Ronald T. Piervincenzi, Ph.D. – CEO, US Pharmacopeia

Dr. Piervincenzi began his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the USP in February 2014. He provides strategic leadership to USP’s global staff of over 1,300 across regions including North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa, Europe, and global public health field offices across 9 countries. His transformative vision has launched key USP initiatives in bringing quality across the healthcare spectrum, upholding USP’s reputation as a quality leader since its founding in 1820. Under his leadership, USP has modernized its operations and launched innovative new science, including in the areas of digital medicine, cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and advanced biologics. More recently, USP has begun building a robust “capability building” services suite of offerings including quality manufacturing consulting, donor-funded work, and education.

Dr. Piervincenzi brings more than 20 years of industry experience across pharmaceutical sciences, research and business strategy. Before joining USP, Dr. Piervincenzi served as Vice President of Development Sciences with Biogen and was a partner and leader in McKinsey & Company's global pharmaceutical and medical products practice for over 12 years. Dr. Piervincenzi earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from Duke University in Biomedical Engineering, with research focused on protein engineering. He is the proud co-founder and chairman of the board for MENTOR Newark.


Antonio Barra Torres – Director Chairman, ANVISA

Antonio Barra Torres is graduated in medicine from the Souza Marques Technical-Educational Foundation and holds residency in vascular surgery at the Hospital Naval Marcílio Dias. Dr. Barra joined the Navy in 1987 and reached the rank of rear admiral, the third highest in the corporation, in 2015. As a civilian, he was an instructor at Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). As a serviceman, he assumed the position of Director of the Navy Medical Expertise Center and the Navy Medical Assistance Center.

 

 


Fabrício Carneiro de Oliveira General Manager, GGBIO/ANVISA

Fabrício Carneiro de Oliveira is a pharmacist graduated from UFMG in 2000, and specialist in health surveillance from FIOCRUZ. He has been a public servant at ANVISA since 2005 and has taken on various managerial and advisory roles since then, including Interim Manager of the GMEFH, Advisor to the GGMED, Advisor to the Directorate of Sanitary Registrations, Manager of the GSTCO and Coordinator of Inspections for APIs and Biologicals. Since August 2022, he has served as General Manager of Biological Products, Radiopharmaceuticals, Blood, Tissues, Cells, Organs and Advanced Therapy Products.


 


Glaucia Karime Braga, Ph.D. –US Pharmacopeia Packaging and Distribution Expert Committee

Glaucia Karime Braga is a pharmacist, she obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of São Paulo. She is pedagogue from the UFSCar and specialist in public health from UNIP. She has 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (quality assurance). In 2012/2013 she was a Visiting Scientist at the USP. Since 2015 she is a member of the Expert Committee on General Chapters - Packaging and Distribution, and is the co-chair of the revision of the USP GC on Risks and Mitigation Strategies of Risks in the Storage and Transport of Medicines. Currently, she is the Director of Qualitaspharma.


Gylson Ribeiro NTC&Logística

Gylson Ribeiro is a business administrator, businessman in the transport sector with more than 4 decades of experience in the segment. He has been working for more than 11 years in class entities, such as the National Association of Cargo Transport and Logistics (NTC&Logística) and the Union of Cargo Transport Companies of São Paulo and region (SETCESP), coordinating the necessary actions to ensure the quality and safety of transportation of specialized products for human health, such as medicines, cosmetics, related products and others.

 

 


Luciana Shimizu Takara, MSc, MBA – Associate Governament & Regulatory Affairs Director, US Pharmacopeia

Luciana is a physiotherapist graduated from UFSCar, she obtained her MSc. in health sciences from UNIFESP and holds an MBA in Project Management from Getúlio Vargas Foundation. Luciana has been with US Pharmacopeia (USP) since 2017 and currently holds the position of Associate Director for Latin America of Regulatory and Governmental Affairs. Before joining USP, she was Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).


Nilton Tojar - Regional Director, US Pharmacopeia Latin America

Nilton Tojar is an executive with over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining USP, Nilton worked in Strategic Planning positions at Merck Sharp & Dohme and Biogen, in different therapeutic areas including Hemophilia, Multiple Sclerosis, Vaccines and Primary Care. Nilton is graduated from Escola Superior de Propaganda & Marketing (ESPM-São Paulo, Brazil), with an International Executive MBA from FIA/USP, and "in company" MBA on Leadership and People Management from Fundação Dom Cabral.


Norberto Prestes – Executive President, ABIQUIFI

Norberto Prestes is a business administrator graduated from USP in Ribeirão Preto, and Master in Inter-organizational Networks (USP - Ribeirão Preto). He was the manager of the SUPERA technology incubator, at USP in Ribeirão Preto. He acted as a manager of export projects and attraction of investments in the pharmaceutical chain. Currently, he is the Executive President of ABIQUIFI (Brazilian Association of the Pharmaceutical Inputs Industry).

 


Oscar Yazbek Filho – Executive President, ABAFARMA

Oscar Yazbek Filho is a business administrator graduated from Universidade Mackenzie, lawyer graduated from Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas and postgraduate in Marketing from ESPM. With 25 years of experience in drug distribution companies. He currently serves as Executive President of ABAFARMA, Association of Pharmaceutical Distributors of Brazil, participating in various technical working groups and committees, representing distribution before authorities and public environmental agencies and regulators in discussions on standards and legislation that impact the activity of the distribution sector in Brazil.


Renato Alencar Porto - Executive Director of Institutional Relations, ABRAFARMA

Renato Porto is the Executive Director of Institutional Relations at ABRAFARMA – Brazilian Association of Pharmacies and Drugstores. Association that brings together 26 companies, 8,300 pharmacies and 46% of the Brazilian pharmaceutical retail market share.

Renato is former Director of the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA). Lawyer graduated from UniCeub (DF) with a specialization in Civil Procedural Law (2007) from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo – PUC/SP, specialization in Sanitary Surveillance from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (2011), postgraduated in Public Policy Management at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation – FGV (2018).


Rosana Mastellaro – Regulatory and Innovation Technical Director, SINDUSFARMA

Rosana Mastellaro is a pharmacist, graduated from Faculdade de Farmácia Oswaldo Cruz. She worked for 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of Training, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and Regulatory Affairs. She has a specialization in Project Management from FGV. She has been working at Sindusfarma since 2008 and is currently the Regulatory and Innovation Technical Director, being responsible for the dialogue with the authorities for the promotion and defense of the pharmaceutical industrial sector, in addition to coordinating the work of the team for dissemination, guidance to associates on the applicable health regulations and conduction of discussions of public consultations, as well as other topics of interest to the sector. She also acts as a guest professor at several renowned universities, in training courses and moderation of lectures and webinars for the sector.
